Historical interest
The movie has no surprises just a good old fashioned cowboy picture but interesting from the archive footage of a rodeo with a cast of Native Americans, women and children who were presumably part of a real show.
A boyish John Wayne and Polly Young, Loretta’s sister, as the pretty love interest.

John Wayne, George "Gabby" Hayes Rule at the Rodeo
The 6th of the Lone Star/Paul Malvern Produvtions westerns directed by veteran Robert N. Bradbury (father of westerns star Bob Steele) starring John Wayne and George "Gabby" Hayes. Here, they are marshals intent on cleaning up a crooked rodeo setup where the organizers men usually place first. And, if they don't, they wind up dead, usually from snake bite. The bad guys are regulars at this and good: Edward Pell is the boss with the great stuntman Yakima Canutt as his main henchman with uncredited helpers Herman Hack, Jack Kirk, Bud McClure, Artie Ortego and others. Lafe McKee, uncredited, is the upstanding judge and town banker. Cutie Polly Ann Young plays McKee's daughter and Wayne's love interest. According to IMDb between 1917-41 she appeared in 39 movies. Anita Compillo plays Pell's lover and accomplice - IMDb says between 1934-39 she appeared in 12 Spanish and English films before passing away at age 28 in 1938. There is no further info on her. IMDb says 55:00, but we get 52+. As in other films in the Lone Star Productions series, the director is westerns veteran Robert N. Bradbury (westerns star Bob Steele's father) and the action is well-paced, even for a film with lots of stock rodeo footage, and few fights or shootouts. As usual Wayne is shown to rely on his wits to out think the bad guys, but fights and wins when he needs to. Enjoy.
